I’m Henry Roach (he/him), a third-year student studying Journalism and Gender & Sexuality Studies with a minor in Creative Writing. While I’ve tried my hand at fiction, journalism, creative nonfiction, and all types of academic essays, I’ve found that I most enjoy writing in the space between genres. This might look like writing across the subject knowledge of double majors at Northwestern or blurring the lines of creative and analytical writing. I’m always reflecting on how the writing we do, in many disciplines (not just humanities!), responds to and shapes our understandings of queerness, race, class, and other forces that guide our world. I’m excited to dive into the writing process with students and hope for someone to leave the session feeling energized, intrigued, or at least a little bit less stressed than when they came in.
