Fellow – Beth Barker

I’m Beth, a PhD candidate in philosophy. I work on practical knowledge—or what it means to know how to do stuff—and the cognitive processes that inform skillful action. The main question that underlies my work is whether knowing how to do something can be fully explained by knowing a set of facts about an activity. (Spoiler: I think it cannot!) At the Writing Place, I’m excited to see what kinds of projects and inquiries animate other folks at Northwestern.
